Songi
Cycle O Arradha Prithibi (Around the world with a bike for companion) is
a travelogue of 30-year old Bangladeshi young man, Ashrafuzzaman Uzzal,
who has already trotted 40 countries of the world by a bicycle. He started
travelling when 24 with 950 dollers in his pocket. He travelled through
19 countries in ten months during 1997.
Uzzal acknowledged greatly
his debts to his father Budruzzaman, who never pressed him for a normal
career, Bangladesh Young Tourist Club (YTC), Dhaka Cycling Club, Alliance
Francaise, Goethe Institute, Iranian Cultural Center and a number of friends
and well-wishers. He also mentioned his predecessor Bangalee globetrotters
including Bimal dey of calcutta, Ramanath Biswas of Habiganj and journalist
Fazlul Bari as his inspiration.
The 104 Pages
book contain tales of six countries exhanstive of Iran(Poets' Country Iran),
Kuwait(Pains of a traveler), Turkey(In Kamal Ataturks Country), Greece(Melting
poet of Great people), Itally (Country of Leonardoe De Vinci, Sofia Loren)
and Denmark (Paradise of the Hippies).
"Travelers
of Third world countries have to face mistrust and harassment while travelers
of rich and developed world get special treatment." the writer anguished.
He however,
stressed on traveling the motherland at first and called on other Bangladeshi
young men and women to travel more.
The book
also presents a number of color photographs at various places of the world.
